Qualification

The following describes our thoughts on the qualities we are looking for when qualifying students.

OUR QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

We find that 1600 hours of training is the minimum necessary to train as a teacher plus one year of apprenticeship on the training course. However, qualification is not dependent, or automatic, on attending a minimum number of hours. Qualification is dependent on a number of factors.

The Alexander Technique is a process, a means to a change. Qualification is cultivating continuity in one’s own practice.

It is necessary to have experienced psycho-physical changes, not transitory, but as a natural, organic process of individual growth and development over a period of years. Through successive days and weeks in their training, the student builds up stamina for a continuous level of good use and functioning which is requisite for the hands-on work with others.

Upon successful completion of the course you are eligible for STAT and ATI membership. Upon graduation you will be invited to do at least a post graduate teaching term at the course as an apprentice teacher.
